East, he applied to the Public Trustee for a loan to the native cf £IOOO upon the security of certain land belonging to her, representing that the money was required for the purpose of improving the land By means of snob representation Stevens induced the Pnblio Trnstee to grant the loan, whereas the money was intended for the purchase of a share in an invention for indicating the position of sonkea vessels in which Stevens ana others were interested. It is also alleged that Stevens induced the native to pay £BOO out of the’ loan for a share in the patent. The case is proceeding.
