SUGGESTED TAX ON WOOL.
A PROHIBITIONIST’S SCHEME. United Press Association.— By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received March 36, 11 a.m. Melbourne, March 26. At the Sons of Temperance Conference a delegate advocated a tax on wool to make up the lossjof revenue through the prohibition of alcohol. He pointed out that wool averaged £l3 per bale, of which £3 went in labour, so there was a huge profit. A tax of a pound a [bale would yield two millions.
