MINISTERIAL VISIT TO FEILDING-

The Hon. J. £A. Millar, Minister for Railways, has announced his intention of visiting Feilding on Monday next. Ha will stay over Tuesday and return to Wellington on Wednesday. The Ministerial visit will come at aa opportune time. There are several important matters roncernißg the welfare of Fielding and surrounding districts that need to be brought before his notice. Prominent among these requirements is that Feilding be made a permanent stopping piaoe for the Au.cklaad express. No doubt stock agents will huve something to say about the inoonvenieuoe that stock owners have experienced lately through shortage of rolling stock. The giain growers and merchants will be enabled to get an authoritative statement as to the maximum weight contained in corn sacks. Ad a mosting of Feilding Chamber of Oommeros last evening (Mr Mostyu Jones preisdisg) arrangements were made for Hon. J. A. Millar's visit. The chief points to be brought before the Minister by the deputations will be the importance, reeonrcs 1 ?, fertility and largeness of the district, Also to ask why Feilding bas beea omitted from the Main Trunk time-table as a stopping place. The matter of extending Foxton-Sandon trawraay service ,to Wailding will also be urged. It was resolved that the Minister be urged to have the evening train from Wellington go on to Marton and Feilding, and that the early morning train- start from Marton or Feilding instead of Palmerston. The£train seivice between Feilding and Bounnythorpe bsing at present very unsatisfactory it ivas resolved to ask far better facilities. Mr Guthrie, M.P., suggested the following ronte, which was decided upon:—From Feilding to back to Kimbolton, on to Ruahine, baok to Rangiwahia, on to Ourl's clearing and Mangamako district, through Sandon Block to Rewa, over Stormy Paint, through Waitana and Makino to Feilding. The distant to ba traversed during the day will be 102 miles.
