WELLINGTON WOOL SALES.

Levin & Oo.’s report;—We offered a catalogue of 4300 bales. Tnere was a large attendance of buyers, and the sale was the best of this season. Our catalogue was largely composed of tbe coarser and heavier wools, as compared with the earlier sales, but with the strong orders in the marker for this grade and the operations of Bradford buyers, medium and inferior crossbreds advanced a halfpenny to a penny per pound. Scouring lots of pieces and locks sola at very high rates, whilst lambs went up to lid per lb. As representing wools from the district the fallowing will give a vt'-y general idea of prices realised : O.W.G. over 1.T., B%d ; Eaugiteatabi B%d. N.D.R., 9d; S.M., 7%d. 333, 5 bales W. Messrs Murray, Roberts and 00., Wellington, report;—We catalogued 3100 bales for So-day’s sale. Taken on the whole the average of the WO9I was in lighter condition than is usual at this time of the year, the wool being mostly soundly grown. There was not such a heavy proportion of bush-stained and seedy paroeis in this catalogue, as is usual. There was a very large attendance of buyers, whose anxiety to buy was apparent at the outset, and there was a keenness and crispness about the bidding which augured a good clearaE.ce. Prices on the whole for medium-conditioned wools must be quoted about per lb higher than at last sale, especially when the condition of the wool (being heavier in the grease) is taken into account. There was not, however, the same keen demand from the American section, for the lighter-conditioned crossbreds, as was apparent about a month ago, probably owing to the fact that the wool is heavier in the grease, Prices f or these sorts were tiardy on a par with last sale. We cleared the bnlk of our catalogue (about 90 per cent at auction), the lots passed in being those where the growers insisted upon keeping high reserves on their clips ; a proportion of these will probaby be sold later. Prices realised in our catalogue, were as follow Merino, medium to good 9%d to lid, inferior 8d to 9d ; balfbred 13d to 12%d, medium to good to Il%d, inferior 9%d to lOd; hne~ crossbred to 12%d medium to good 9%d to lid, inferior B%d ;to 9i'ad ; medium and coarse crossbred lOd to 10%d, medium to good 9d to ICd, inferior 7%d to B%d ; pieces to B%d. medium to good 6%d to 7%d, inferior 5d to 6d; looks and heavy pieces 4d to sd, inferior 3d to 4d. Messrs” Abraham & Williams, Ltd., report as follows-The third sale of the series was held to-day when total [catalogues ‘.comprising abont 20.000 bales were offered, of which we presented a catalogue of 3135 bales, which would have been augmented to the extent of 700 bales, but this number nad to be shut out owing to ‘.the late arrival. Buyers were present in record numbers, and were representative of American, Home and Continental houses. We are able to report a splendid sale with fprioes quite per lb higher than last sales, and this without taking into consideration the extra amount of grease in the wool offered at this present sale. Bradford operators were to the fore at to-day’s sale, as the catalogue comprised very little wool which excited the keen competition of Amerioanibayefs, but for anything that suited them they were ready with extreme values. Pieces and bellies sold exceptionally well and may be quoted at fully %d advance. Lambs wool also elicited keen competition, our top price for clean crossbred lambs being ll%d. Our top price for fleece wool was for a well grown bright Romney clip from the Wairarapa.
