With regard to the statement that a number of officers of the Fifth Lancers had been placed on half pay owing to the fact that the regiment was in a stata of inefficiency the War Office states that the recent placing of officers of the Fif tii Lancers upon half pay was not duo to canses detrimental to their character Their services will be utilised elsewhere as the regiment 'was-not inefficient.
