Press Association. Wellington, July 17. The Council met at 2.80. The Hon. Scotland moved that members of the Council ought to re* ccivo the same rate of pay as members of the other Chamber. The Hou. Samuel, to prevent the motion from being put, moved the previous question. This being acquiesced in, the discussion was killed.

The Hou. Bohau resumed the debate on the Addross-iu-Rcply. The Hon. Paul rose to reply at 44.0 and the Council rose at 4.58.
