Mr H. O. Lea, a member of the House of Commons, in a letter io the Times, declared that honours are bought and sold, the proceeds going principally to the war ches.u dr the party in office. ‘ ' When the Commons met Loi'd Robert Cecil moved that Mr Lea s letter amounted to a breach, -of privilege, and lie urged the appointment of a Select Committee to enquire into the allegations. Mr Lea said he welcomed the enquiry. , ' Sir H. Campbell-Bannerman declared that the House would best consult its dignity by avoiding undue notice of Lea’s impropriety, and he moved to proceed to the next business. . 0 _ The motion was earned by 200 to 120.
