THE HON. HALL-JONES.
Press Association. Christchurch, July 12. The Hon. W. Hall-Joues, Minister of Public Works and Railways, embarked on the steamship Kaipara at Lyttelton this afternoon aud tho vessel is expected to sail for England at five o’clock to-morrow morning. The Minister was accompanied by Mrs Hall-Jonos, Miss Hall-Joues and Mr G. O. Schmidt, private secretary. When asked for a farewell message ho replied, “Toll tho people how very grateful I am for all their kindness. Tell them how I appreciate tho consideration shown mo by my colleagues aud the members of Parliament, the good wishes of public men of local bodies, of the press and tho people generally. Tell them that all this kindness has done me good. I feel tho better for it” Ho also spoke in confident terms of his return a few mouths’ hence in full health.
The Kaipara is due at London on August 28th, and will call on tho way at Monte Video, St Vincent and Teneriffe.
