Kaid MacLeau writes that he is in good spirits and that the headmen of tbo neighbouring tribes prevented Raisuli removing him elsewhere. Kaid Mac Lean’s bodyguard, who has reached Tangier, states that MaoLeau carried a letter of pardon to the tribes who were assisting Raisuli and the latter pretended that'the tribes would not accept the letter as genuine Unless MaoLeau personally read it to them. .He induced MacLoan to visit the tribesmen and had him arrested after reading the letter. The Sultan heads a powerful expedition against Raisuli.
