Mr Dacey, member for Alexandria, asked the Colonial Secretary if he was aware that a considerable amount of meat unfit for consumption was being slaughtered and that it was being used in connection with the supply of tinned meats for tho Indian Army. Would he make inquiry as to a certain business carried on at Botany for a few years past ? " , Mr Waddell replied that a certain man was being watched but so far he had eluded the authorities. He was a Chinaman and very clever. While his was the solitary instance of bad t meat being sold; it was untrue that it was going on in a wholesale manner.
