The fourth series of the Loudon and Colonial wool sales opened with fair competition. Merinos are unchanged, and crossbreds par to five per cent decline.
Stock Market. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Johnsonvillo sale as followsA full entry of bullocks, most of the extra entry being of prime quality, the balance medium sorts. Prime bullocks made up to 335, others 225, best bullocks £9 15s to £lO, £9 5s to £9 10s, medium £8 10s to £9, plain £7 7s 6d. A good yarding of sheep, mostly prime quality, wore equal to last week’s rates. Heavy wethers 24s to 24s 4d, others 31s 4d to 21s 9d, light 19s 3d, best ewes 19s lOd, others 17a 3d to 18s 4d, Down ewes 18s 4d, lambs 15s 2d. Messrs Abraham and Williams report on Hunterville sale : —Owing to the rough weather stock did not come forward in very large numbers. The yarding of sheep consisted of lambs and ewes in lamb, the former selling nt late rates. Cattle were somewhat dull of sale, especially light weight ffit cows. Wo quote ; Mixed lambs 11s lid to 12s, culls 9s, forward bullocks £6 10s to £7 10s, 20-months* steers £3 11s to £3 13s, fat cows £4 2s 6d to £4 10s, forward cows £3 10s.
