UTIKU-MOAWHANGO TRAM.

The Minister for Lauds has forwarded the following letter to Rangitikei County Council: — Wellington, 18th June, 1907. The Clerk, . Rangitikoi County Oouiioil, Martou.

“Dear Sir.—l bog to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of date the 11th lust., stating that your Council was unwilling to rate a portion of the County to raise funds for the above work. In reply I have the honour to inform you that your suggestion about the Government advancing the necessary funds has boon considered, and it has been decided to decline the request. In regard to the other suggestion as to cutting up the laud for settlement, I cannot at this juncture, -recommend this course. Yours faithfully. B. McNAB.”
