BANQUET TO MR McGOWAN.
Press. Association. Thames, May 4. A banquet to Mr McGowan was hold last night. Mr McGowan was received with cheers and his work as member aud Ministerjeulogised. Mr Millar delivered a stirring speech, in the course of which he spoke of the marvellous trade expansion of New Zealand, which last year showed imports of 15 millions and exports of 18 millions, a total- of 33 millions for a colony with about 900,000 inhabitants. Mr Millar quoted the statistics as to finance, which appear elsewhere.
