Stocks | on hand are heavy and widely distributed amongst agents who are pushing sales; Canterbury mutton 3%d, North Island 3%d. The lamb market is firm, stocks on hand are heavy and there is good demand for all classes. The average price for light weight Canterbury is 5%d, other than Canterbury 5%a per lb; heavy weights, Canterbury, SJfcd, other at 4%d per lb. The beef market is steady, owing to good demand. The average price is B%d and 2%d for hind and tore quarters respectively. , The butter market is slightly weaker, with less demand. Choice New Zealand brands are quoted at 975, Argentine 90s, Danish 101 s. . , I The cheese market is quiet ana prices slightly weaker. Buyers are holding back, expecting prices to go lower. The current quotation is 635. There is small business doing in the hemp market - 'and prices are weak; good fair grade on spot is £33 10s, and April-Jr.no shipments £3. Fair current Manila on spot is £37. The cocksfoot seed market is quite and there are only light stocks on hand; 171 b bright clean seed is quoted at 52s per owt. For New Zealand wheat tho market is firm with a hardening tendency 5 oats, market is active w Ith good demand. New Zealand beaus, market quiet; peas, market firm, with demand only moderate.
