BILLIARDS.
Cradle Cannons
Per Press Association,
Brisbane, April 23. Stevenson, the billiardist, arrived by the Aorangi eu route for New Zealand. Speaking at a Mayoral reception, ho said there had been great doings in billiards since be left England. In regard to the cradle* cannon ho contended that for the sake of billiards it should either be abolished or ouly_ allowed, say three times in a game*. It vyas only one stroke and a man could stand in one position and his hand keep going like a piston rod. It was quite possible to start on Monday night and have an unfinished break on Saturday night. During his exhibitions in Australia and elsewhere lie would not attempt the stroke, because it was simply monotonous repetition and amateur billiardists liked to see all round billiards.
At Billiards, Dawson, playing Lovejoy 35,000 up, made a break of 33,769 unfinished, including 11,789 cradle cannons.
