POKENO ROAD BOARD MONTHLY MEETING The regulir monthly meeting of th 3 above authority was held on Monday, Mr K Lyons presiding in the absence of tie chairman. Other members present were: Messrs J McCaw C O'Leary and P Wjman Application tor eighteen chains of tbe road between the railway crosfig and his property to be formed was made by Mr P A Ktlly, of Mercer. lie stated bis willingness to attend to the balance of eight chains'.—The matter was referred to the Franklin County Council, the understanding being that as the road was a boundary road between toe Council and the Board tbe Board would be prepared to pay half th; cost of eighteen chain", the Council to do the work The franklin County Council forwarded an application from tbe Rev P W Ciarkson, of Rotorua, for improvements to tbe side road from Pokeno tq Paparatarßombav rosd, and a request was also received from the rev gentleman for particulars as to the quantity of metal taken from the Maungatawhiri quarry during tbe past two years.—The chairman suggested that a portion of a sum of £9, accrued by way of "thirds,"' should be expended id repairing the watt r- tab lea on the road.—Messrs McCaw and O'Leary were deputed to see that tbe wirk was attended to and the chairman promised to provide Mr Ciarkson with particulars re the quarry.—lt was resolved that the Franklin Cqunty Council should be asked to make good the rent outstanding which the Board would have to pay In connrclion wjth a culvert at Mr Ramsay's, on the Pokeno Valley road, Mr McCaw was appointed to make enquiries re tbe same before putting in pipes, with a view of reporting at the following meeting SALE REPORT At the Pokeno yards on Monday Mes.rs Buckland and Sons held their usual monthly slock sale. There was a good yarding and prices were fair. Beef sold at Westfieli rates; sptinging calves and heifers from £5 to £8 17s 6d; bulls £5 5s to £8 17s 6d; empty cows £4 15s to £6 5s j 18 months to two-year-old steers £5 17s to £6 16s; young calves £3 7s 6d to £4 Is; good calces £2 to £2 lis, and others 15s to£l 16s
