DAIRYING MATTERS AT WAIPIPI.

A Cheese Project.

The latest development of dairying matters at Waipipi is a proposal from Messrs J. H. MacEwen and Co. to erect and equip a local cheese factory. The project was lail before a well attended meeting of suppliers, held in the Waipipi school on Friday evening last, by Mr Van Veen, Mets.s Mactiwen and Co.'s manag:r, Mr J. T. Jjnes presiding. After outlining the scheme for the erection of a cheese fac'ory and answering numsroua quastions relative thereto, Mr Van Veen mggested that the meeting should go into commi tee and decide whether they would support the manufacture of butter or of cheese.

Jt was derided, however, to take a vote by a fhow ot hands and nine farmers, milking probably fcom 250 to 300 cows, voted in favour of cheese and 12 against. Amongst those who voted in the negative were two or three who, it was claimed by Mr Van Vean, should not hsve exercised their vote because they were not suppliers of the Kohe Kohe or the Waipipi creameries, and consequently would not be affected by the scheme as proposed. Several abstained from vuting, and asked for a week's grace to consider the proposal. A definite decision was therefore deferred ts another meeting, to be held next Friday. The proceedings closed with a vole of thanks to Mr Van Veen and to Mr J. T. Jones.

A:> llio outcome of the closiug of the Waipipi Creamery, the N.Z. Dairy Association lias arranged to erect a delivery station at Waipipi, from whence the cream will lie carted to the uow factory at Waiuku.
