EOAD BOAED ECHO. Lmring the closing year of its life the Mercer Eoad Board had the misfortune to over-run the constable, in tho way of unauthorised expenditure, to tho tune of nearly £l3. It may havo been noticed by your readers that this year the Audit Department is very active with local body balance sheets, and Mercer, like other corporations, has had its taz put or. Ttere were five members of the Board—Messrs Martin, Tregowelh, Lincoln, Landon and Pickett. Of this number Mr Lincoln is now in India, where he has gone to take up his permanent residence. Which means, as memncrs are jointly and severally liable, that the iemainirg four may have to bear the burden. In which case they will have to "shell cut" something like £o 12s O'd apiece.
