THE SUMMER HARVEST. Summer ia with us in earnest once again, and one has only tu glance across the fields ot cats and wheat to Hod the crops ripening fast. There is a larse area of crop here this ,vear,«nd it is feared thai; men will he hard to get for the invest. A IIOMINU-OF-AUE. Quite a pleasant gathering took place at Kainui estate on the 22i d November, wnen Frances William McLarin, third son of Mr McLarin, became of age. Songs and music were supplied b.v mapy locrl residents, and Ihe floor of the woolshcd was in excellent,order. Supper was laid out in Mr McLarin's dir.inaioom, there the isusl toastß and health i f the young man were drunk. Mr McLarin, junr., was the recipknt oi many nreseuts Dancing was kept up till 4.30, when all left with the fee ling that the gathering was most successful and everyone enjoyed themselves. ROAD MAKING. Mr Archie Moore has returned with his teama to finish th 3 contract thnt wae stopped by the winter. It hto be hoped that ffe will have better graded roads , as there is a considerable amount of treffc on thcß? roads now. ♦
