Complaints About Quality. "* A little time ago a strong agitation was set up to have a Government grader appointed at Pukekohe with a view to obtaining higher and 'more even grades lor the best produce of the district. The ilea was advocated by the Chamber of Commerce, and it was .fully discu sed by meetings of farmers, convened for the purpose I The appointment waa decided against ' by the growers present at the last meeting. A few days ago complaints were made to us that thia season's I samples are again faulty. "In some | cases," said our Informant, "the samples were bettei, but in others they were as bad as the samples of la*Bt year, and about which so much _ complaint was heard. It has this ' year been found necessary to reject some iotb. Tiny, immature potatoes, packed at the bottom of the bags, nere the cause of tbe rejections." We have been asked, in the interests of the farmers themselves, and with a view to, discouraging practices which may destroy the dis- I trict's reputation, to publish the | foregoing statement.
