Willows in Maungatawhiri
Request to Waikato River
Board.
The following htter, under date November 4th, was forwarded to Mr Glass, chairman of the Waikat i River Board, hy Mr A. Lone, of Pckeno: —"I beg to forward you a copy of resolutions pissed at a meeting of Pok?ro snd Mau:igitawhiri rat'payers, which was held at the Pokeno Hall tc-iav, when there were present .-Messrs A. W. Glass. F. W. Pyne, J. Dean, J. Graham, o. Grahsm, E. Clark, Hill. Kobert Pendergrast, C. Pep?, James Mc-Phers-n, senr , and Lorie (in the chair). •'That it is necessary the willows in ai.d on the Mnungatawhiri river be taken out or destroyed as soon as possible, commencing at the mouth of the Waikato.—Proposed by Mr Lorie and seconded by Mr Glas9.
That the Waikato River Board be requested to form a special subdivision for the Maungatiwhi.i, provided they will, as a preliminary wcrk, undt-itake to immediately put in hand the work of removing or killing the willows in or on the river. —Mr Prendergrast, Mr Pyne. "That iba sincere thanks of this meeting be accorded to che Chairman of the Waikato River Board for attending this m°eting.—Mr Lurie, Mr McPherson. "That this meeting tflegraph to the Prim? Miris'er snd ask that the engineers row inspecting ( n o Waikato be ins ructed to confer with Mr Glas', and with him inspect and report on the test means for improving the Maungatawhiri."—Mr Dean, Mr Hill.
