THE Pukekohe and Waiuku Times PUBLISHED TUESDAYS AND FRIDAYS. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 1912. THE PUKEKOHE SHOW.

"We nothing extenuate, nor set down aught in malice."

The announcement that a large number of new members had been added to tho roll of the Franklin A. and I'. iSociety is, wo believe, the first indication thnt a big expansion is to bo experienced this year in the affairs of the society. Wo have every confidence in Pukekohe being able to maiutaiu its position as the chief show centi'o between Auckland and Hamilton. We are convinced that with energy and enthusiasm 011 the part of the .secretary and tho committee, and with the loyal help of all members, tho show in February next will !{iiite eclipse any of its predecessors. * All addition of fifty per cent to the membership roll, and a fifty per cent increase iu the number of entries, will bring the Fianklin iShow right to the front rank of country exhibitions. In view of the increased entries which it is certain can be obtained, tho conimitUe should carefully review the conditions that existed last year for holding and judging the stock, and determine what can be done to improve them. A little planning now will avoid a lot of oonl'iiMoii and dissatisfaction at the Show. The inciease.s that Lave been made in tho prize money show

a vtu'y cmn'w nliiMu desire 011 tho part of tli" n-mmitiim that tho exhibitors shuil! putlicipate in the prosperity of the Society. In actual (.•ash or value prizes very few oxliibitois are recouped for their act'.. I expenditure. IJut in tho way of obtaining a liberal education, by widening and ripening the judgment and by getting fresh points of view, there is nothing so beneficial as putting one's horse, or cow, or flower or potato against tho other fellow's, and letting a third party decide which is the hotter. This district provides so wi'io a vaih'iv of such excellent quality, Loth in live stock and in agriculture, that it is a constant source of admiration by visitors. And it' the show is made worthy of tho dhtritt tlie good qualities of the whole c uintryside will win still wider appreciation.
