Drury Road Board By-law.

Through a typ (graphical mistake tlie latter part of Mr Glasson's letter, which appeared in Friday's issue, had its sense quite spoilt. The concluding paragraph should have read (and our Drury readers will please tack this on to the cutting they have taken of tho letter) . " I must also ask leave to refer to u report of a so-called ratepayers' meeting which appeared in your paper a few weeks since. 1, with other members of tho Board, was asked to attend this meeting. Well, I might have overlooked tho manner in which tho meeting was conducted had a misleading report not been sent to tho press. Had this alleged meetiug of ratepayers been correctly reported it would have shown that tho principal speaker and mover of No. 2 resolution was neither a ratepayer nor residont in the Drury road district, and instead of 2.5 voting as recorded, there were only 19 ratepayers in the hall out of a rate roll of over 150. "In conclusion I would like to remind the Board's critics that each member has substantial interests iu the district and should bo competent to appreciate the advantage of any industry; and I can' also say without fear of contradiction that the Board has during the two-and-a-half years that I have been connocted with it always endeavoured to meet the timber and stone carters. All that has been requested, and all we ask of them, is to co-operate with the Board in keeping the roads in reasonable repair. Without such co-opera-tion the funds at the Board's disposal are altogether inadequate. Thanking you in anticipation.—l am, etc., W. H. C. GLASSON, Chairman Drury Road Board. Another paragraph, referring to an old by-law, was printed "which the Board had been for thirty years trying to oporato." This was also a mistake ; Mr Glasson's copy did not contain tho word " thirty. "
