BUCKLAND.

Tennis Concert. To mark the opening of the tennis season a concert was held under the auspices of the Tennis Club in the public hall on the 20th ult. Despite the inclemency of the weather there was a large aUeudauce, over which Mr J. T7ylie presided. Appended is the programme: —"Caller Herrin," Mrs McAnally; vocal duet "Gipsy Countess," Miss Bagnall and Mr T. Walker; descriptive song "The Bugler," Mr A. Smith and company; descriptive song "Iu the Twi-Twi light," Mr T. Walker. The second part bf the programme was filled by the Auckland Minstrel Troupe, the leading characters being: Johnson, Sambo and Tony, taken respectively by Messrs A. P. Home, G. M. Gun dry and T. Walker. The oompany consisted of mixed voices and the choruses were all well rendered. Solos were sung by Mrs McAnally, 44 My Old Kentucky Home " ; Mr G. Hill, "Good Old Jeff"; Mr W. Jeffries, "Old Black Joe"; Mr A. Todd, 44 Massa's in the Cold, Cold Ground "; Mr J. Walker, 44 1 used to Bigh": Mr G. M. Gundry, 44 Sue, Sue, Sue" and Mr T. Walker, 44 Shine, Bhine " and 44 De Old Banjo." The piano and violin accompaniments were played respectively by Mesdames Davy and Allan, Misses Home and Bagnall, and Mrs J. Wylie. Tho hall was afterwards cleared for dancing, the music for which was furnished by Mrs W. V. Davy.
