WORKERS' HOMES.
At a mooting of the Auckland Provincial Executive of tho Now Zoaland I Farmers' Uniou the secretary (Mr A. Schmitt) presented draft proposals in connection with tho scheme for tho erection of workors' homes in the country. It proposed that tenants bo allowed ten acres for occupation, with right of purchase. Mr J. E. Makgill (Waiuku) suggested that instead of specifying ten acres, provision should be made for land sullicient to run ten cows in each case. He thought that no holder of other land should be allowed to acquire one of these sections. Mr J. Flanagan (Drury) thought that to give adequate relief it would be necessary to settlo about 10,000 pooplo in this way, which would cost about £8,000,000. He moved that tho matter bo deferred till next meeting. The motion was carried with tho proviso that tho proposal be sent on to the Dominion Executive, with a request for its circulation among provincial executives for discussion.
