FRANKLIN COUNTY COUNCIL.
- The Franklin County Council, whose members were elected on Saturday last, will hold its first meeting in Pukekohe on Thursday, July -Ith. The area which will be under the jurisdiction of the county is very extensive and as the Road hoards merge the responsibilities of members, and the work they will lie called upon to do, will increase. Meanwhile, the Council wiil not have a lines of work (such us tho Borough Council bail) thrown upon t hein ; for the simple reason that the vaiioiis Road Hoards will continue to exorcise their administrative functions. It may be assumed that the Council will first of all concern itself about the arterial roads, but as time progresses its duties are bound to multiply enormously. We have to congratulate the Councillors upon their election, and to express the hopo that their public-spirited work will prove of great benefit to the ratei.aseis mid the public generally of the Franklin county.
