The Pukekohe District Golf Club has been put fairly on its feet. Officers elected are :—President, Dr. Wake; Vice-president, Mr Grigor ; Captain, Mr Dansey; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr E. J. Eames. To this number was added the names of Rev. Nixon and Mr Hunter to form a managing committee, one vacancy still remaining. Town members' subscriptions were fixed at 10s 6d and £2 2s, country members 7s 6d and £1 Is (ladies and gentlemen respectively.) The winner of the essay competition (for boy or girl under 14) at the last Franklin A. and P. Show was Clara Delaney, Buckland. The essay, being a composition on the show, was a very creditable production. Amongst other suggestions the essayist recommended the erection of shelter sheds for the dogs so as to avoid having to chain them in exposed positions. Florence Dobson was second. Herbert Wily won in the class for boys or girls under 11 years.
