Mauku Road Board.

The monthly meeting of the Mauku Road Board was held on Saturday, present :—Messrs Pilgrim (Chairman), J. Henry, J. Clark and J. Adolph. A special meeting was held prior to the usual meeting to confer with members of the Karaka Road Board regarding the County Council scheme. Messrs Batty and Glasson being present from Karaka. These gentlemen explained that owing to local differences the Karaka Road Board had resigned and an election was to be held on May Ist, so the matter was deferred till after that date. Accounts amounting to £409 3s Od were passed for payment, the principal amounts being : —Mr Gillies (work on Brady's road) £56 17s 6d ; J. Brady (Taylor's hill) £25 0s Od, advance payment; J. Brow n (formation on Tramway) £63 7 s 6d; W. Finlay (final payment on Pilgrim's Road) £46 18s 0d; A. Moor (advanced payment on Waiau contract) £220 0s Od.
