MANY APPLICATION FOR POWER
- THAMES VALUEY BOARD’S POLICY EXPLAINED Each application to the Thames Valley Electric Power Board for power for industrial Installations was judged on its merits, stated the chairman, Mr J. F. Mayn, at the board's September meeting-. The question was raised by Mr H. L- Boughttm (Waihi), who asked if a policy bad been formulated for industrial installatfams as he considered that in some cases they were more important than lighting and other connections. He referred particularly to an application by a baker for an electric oven at Waihi Beach. The board’s manager, Mr R. Sprague, also told Mr Boughton that the executive officers of the board took no responsibility in the matter and that they made no decisions. The board made the decisions. The necessary permits were issued by one person and that was the chief engineer. The chief engineer, "Mr G. P. Lindsay, explained that the’ regulations governing the supply of power stated that the board would do certain things. These regulations were rigidly enforced. In some instances the board had no other alternative than to refuse certain applications. Applications for ranges were subject to separate reports in each case, said Mr Lindsay. Due to numerous difficulties other applications for industrial installations were deferred until such time as these ■difficulties were overcome. When the board found itself in a position to grant these applications it accorded them appropriate urgency.
