PROPOSED AMALGAMATION OF DAIRY COMPANIES

TE AKOHA AMD HAURAKI PLAINS A detailed resume of the company’s dealings with the executive Commission of Agriculture and the Mew Zealand Dairy Board in reference to the zoning of supply, was given by the chairman, Mr D. Courtney, at a special general meeting of suppliers of the Te Arciia-Thames "Valley Co-operative Dairv Co., Ltd. It was the unanimous decision of the meeting that farmers as a whole should have the choice of supply to at least two dairy companies, and that the present zoning, which has been in force for 13 years and had stood the test of time, should not be interfered with. The meeting expressed strong antagonism to any interference with individual farmer’s freedom .and choice of supply. Mr Courtney advised suppliers of the proposed amalgamation of the company with the Hauraki Plains Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., and the following resolution was carried unanimously: “That this representative meeting of 246 suppliers to the Te Aroha-Thames Valley Dairy, Co., Ltd., instruct the directors to proceed with their proposed amalgamation with the Hauraki Plains company.” At the close of the meeting the ■chairman and directors were congratulated on the manner in which they had handled the zoning of the proposed amalgamation, and on their action in placing all information before the shareholders.
