MORRINSVILLE MARKET Quality Heifers In Demand At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s Morrinsville sale on Friday a full yarding of sheep, comprising principally lamtos, sold under keen competition at very firm rates. A small yarding of fat ewes was in keen dem,and and realised advanced quotations. The ' advertised breeding ewe® sold readily at recent rates. A full yarding of dairy heifers and cows was penned. Bidding was keen before a large bench of buyers for good quality forward heifers and cows. Backward cows and heifers tended to improve slightly on last week’s value. A larger yarding of both fat and store pigs was penned. Competition for all classes was very keen, values showing a slight rise on last week’s high rates. Realisations were:— Sheep.— Prime fat ewes, 82s 9d to 33s 6d. Medium, 28s tc 30s. Light and plain, 26s to 26s 6d. Prime fat . lambs, 35s to 375. Medium, 31s to 335. Light, 28s to ' 30s. Btcre wether lambs, 25s to 28s. (Late shorn four and six-tooth ewes, r.w. Southdown rams, 38s. Five-year ewes, r.w. Southdown rams, 34s 6d. Dairias.— .Good quality forward heifers, close to profit, £l7 to £l9 10s. Forward heifers, close to profit, £l4 to £l6 10s. Heifers in milk, £l3 to £ls 15s. 'Backward heifcirs, £9 to £ll 10s. Jersey and Jersey cross cows, close to profit, £ll 10s to £l4 10s. Later calvers, £8 10s to £lO 15s. Pigs.— Choppers, £7 2s 6d to £7 10s. Baconcirs, £5 15s to £6 6s. LOAN AND MERCANTILE Improved Values General The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile held its Morrinsville sale on [Friday, when a good yarding of fat and boner cattle sold to a full bench of buyers. Competition was keen throughout, with values showing marked improvement on recent quotations. Empty two-year heifers were well sought and prices firmed. Dairies, including the advertised herd of young cows due to calve in July and August, sold well, but older and later sorts were harder to quit. Quality calved cows sold readily, while two-year springing heifers sold to steady bidding. Prices were: Fat Jersey cows and heifers, £9 to £lO 4s. Medium, £8 to £8 17s 6d. 'Heavy ibonct? cows, £6 15s to £7 15s. Medium, £5 to £6 10s. Store cows, £4 to £4 15s. Potter bulls, £6 17s 6d to £S 10s. Good empty two-year heifers, £5 to £5 10s. Medium, £4 7s 6d to £4 15s. Good quality dairy heifers, close to profit, £l4 10s to £lB. August calvers, £l2 10s to £l4, Smaller and backward sorts, £9 10s to £ll 10s. Young dairy cows, early calvers, £l3 10s to £l9 ss. Medium dairy cows £ll 10s to £l3. Older and backward sorts, £8 to £lO. Calved cows, £lO to £ls 15s.
