MORRINSVILLE MARKET Fat Cows in Demand At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s Mcrrinsville sale on Friday there was a small yarding of fat sheep, which made 'recent firm rates. Fat cows sold under steady competition, and improved values were obtained for bon.'i and store cows. The •offering of Jersey calves was in demand and values were firm. Top quality well grown dairy hoffers met a ready sale, .but competition was not as keen for later and poorer lines. The advertised pcdigi-ee heifers were in good order, young cows making from 29 to 36 guineas, and the heifers from 17* to 28 guineas. Pigs were yarded in good average numbers, the entry comprising mainly store and weaner pigs for which the demand was very keen. Prices were fully up to last week. •Realisations were:— Sheep.— Heavy prime lambs, 37s 6d to 39s 3d. Prims, 32s to 365. Light, 28s to 30s. Storo w.f. wether lambs, 25s 9d to 28s 6d. Cattle.— Heavy fat cows and heifers, £lO to £l2 17s 6d. Heavy fat young Jersey cows, £8 to £9. Lighter fat Jersey cows and heifcirs, £6 10s to £7 10s. ’■Boner cows, £5 to £6. 15s. Store cows and heifers, £4 to £4 103. Two-year empty Jersey heifers and slips, £4 17s to £5 10s. Medium quality Jersey heifer calves, £5 6s to £5 13s. •Small Jersey calves, £4 4s to £5. LOAN AND MERCANTILE Improved Values For Cattle The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile held its Morrdnsville sale on Friday. There was a good entry of fat and boner cattle, for which competition was steady at improved .values. A good entry of dairy cattle was offered, quality heifers and young cows, close to profit being fceenly sought at advanced rates. The demand was easier for more backward sorts. (Realisations were:— Cattle.— Heavy fat Jersey cows and heifers, £8 to £9 12s 6d. Medium, £7 to £7 15 s. Heavy boner cows, £5 15s to £6 15s Medium, £4 10s to £5 10s. store cows, £3 to £4. Potter bulls, £7 5s to £9 10s. Empty 2-year Jersey heifers, £4 to £5 6s. Medium yearling Jersey heifers, £4 15s to £5 15s. Quality 2-year Jersey heifers, close to profit, £l6 Ids to £2l. Medium 2-year Jersey heifers, close to profit, £l3 to £l6. Two-year Jersey heifers, August calvers, £l2 10s to £l4 15s. Medium, £lO 10s to £l2. Small and backward sorts, £8 10s to £lO.
