SERVICEMEN FARM TRAINEES

REHABILITATION PLANS For the farmer planning his next season’s activity now is- an opportune time to approach local rehabilitation offices to secure the services of farm trainees, says a statement from the rehabilitation board. The latest Dominion figures available relating to farm training show that at the end of May there were 213 approved men waiting placement with farmers, and there were only 136 farmers recorded with local as wanting trainees. The excess of trainees, as shown by past experience, tend to build up during the off-season; but the excass cf 77 trainees should not tend to make farmers delay their applications as the figure is deceptive. Apart from take fact that the number is spread unevenly throughout the Dominion, it will be found that even in districts where* the margin of trainees appears fairly wide the men offering require specific kinds of farming experience; and unlciss the individual farmer can offer the needed training he may find difficulty in meeting his requirements.

As the relative proportions of farmers aiid trainees will alter rapidly, this mutual difficulty in accomthe ’‘Waikato will not decrease This time last year a return showing the number's' of both offering in each rehabilitation district was published; but the position altered so rapidly in the short interval between compilation and publication that it proved of little use to farmers. Any farmer, therefore, who is interested in securing the services of a rehabilitation farm trainee is advised to seek information personally from the nearest rehabilitation office as early as possible.
