HAURAKI CATCHMENT BOARD

PREPARING FOR RATING No Levy This Year Because of protracted negotiations with the Soil Conservation Council for finance to set up its administration, tha Hauraki Catchment Board would be unable to strike an administrative rate this year, said the acting-clerk, Mr. F. I. Clarke, at last moating of the board. At present an authorised sum of £2OOO was awaited from the P.W.D. for administrative purposes, and plans of the district had been sent to the Valuation Department for full valuation. Until this was available the board obviously could not strike a rate. Mr. Clarke had applied to the soil council for extension of repayment of the administrative. loan to March 31, 1949, instead of in the previous year. His action was endorsed.
