WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
GROUP MEETING A group meeting of Women’s Institute branches in tho Waikato was held- at Putaruru recently. Mrs. R. Rutledge presided. The roll call was answered by Lichfield, Putaruru, Waipa, Tapapa and Arapuni institute members. Taupo regretted that they- were unable to be represented. Demonstrations were given by Mrs Buckley, of Matamata, on callophane hats, Mrs. Barlow, of Matamata, on floral show work, and Mira. Cockhead, of Matamata, on fair isle knitting. Mrs. Fromm, president of tha Waikato East Federation, Stated her pleasure- at the good attendance, and interested members with a demonstration of the making of earrings. . A highlight of the afternoon wag a travel-talk given by the Rev. I. Muir, of Tirau. He dealt with his travels through the New Hebrides, and gave members a very clciar and interesting account of life in those parts. An extremely interesting meeting closed with afternoon tea, served by the Arapuni institute.
