RETIREMENTS PENDING Clerk and Departmental Officer “Hr. F. I. Clarke, acting-clerk to the beard, is about to terminate his appointment, and at next meeting the now clerk, Mr. C. M. Walsh, will take up his duties,” said the chairman, Mr. H. M. Corbett, at last meeting of the Hauraki Catchment Board. In moving- the hoard place on record appreciation of Mr. Clarke’s services, Mr. Corbett said that Mr. Clarke had given invaluable service; without his expert assistance the .board would not he where it was to-day. Mr. Corbett also said the board would be deeply indebted to Piako County Council for assistance given. Council had helped the board over many difficulties, and its actions ware appreciated. Many other members spoke high-
ly of Mr. Clarke’s services to them both as board members and personally. ite- The hoard also wished Mr. D. R. Campbell, District Commissioner of State Forests, who would be retiring shortly, a pleasant and happy retirement. In asking the meeting to pass a vote of thanks to Mr. Campbell, Mr. Corbett siaid that as a representative of a highly responsible department, Mr. Campbell had carried out his duties efficiently and had given much assistance to the board. On its behalf, Mr. Corbett extended best wishes to Mr. Campbell for the future.
