Waikato Union’s Decision •. 'According- to a decision made by the management committee of the Waikato union the New Zealand Rugby Union will bci advised that Waikato desires a Wednesday fixture -with the Maori All Blacks. The gaime is likely to be played towards the end of tha season when the Maoris will tour New Zealand. There was a short discussion on residential qualifications following receipt of the New Zealand union’s ruling that a player should play in the centre where he had his place of residence even if during the week he worked elsewhere. On tha motion of Mr. A. E. Gibbons (Hamilton) the meeting decided that before the New Zealand union calls for remits for its next annual meeting tha present rules covering qualifications should be considered with a view toward sending a remit forward for discussion. The committee confirmed the ■ entence of throe years’ suspension imposed by the Putaruru sub-union upon a Maraetai player, W. O. Russell, fer using obscene language ana Striking a referee. The player had been advised he had the right of appeal. No communication had been received from him. . Waikato Fixtures The meeting confirmed the action of the Te Awamutu sub-union and dismirred the appeals of two senior players, who wetre ordered off the field recently, and were suspended as a result. Arrangements were made for the Waikato, fixtures with King Country at Te Aiwamutu on July 19 and with East Coast at Cambridge on July 23. Dolth games will start at 2'.30 p.m. Mr. I. F. Vickers (Te Awamutu) and C. G. Wallace (Cambridge), respectively, were appointed managers. An endeavour -will be made to arrange a junior representative game between Waikato and South Auckland as a cur-tain-raiser, to Ithe match at Te Awamutu and ,to offer South Auckland a return game next year. It was considered that the Waikato junior team’s fixture list should fee enlarged as another step in the improvement of the standard of JWaikato Rugby generally. Regular Practices - Hie chairman, Mr. D. S. B. Heather, said the senior selector, Mr. A. L. Thomas, would require his team to undertake regular week-end practices. Cambridge - was the desirable place for these practices. A sub-committee consisting of Messrs. Wallace, H. Kirkman (Cambridge) and' C. H. Mclntyre (Morrinsville) was appointed to confer in conjunction With. Mr. Thomas in regard to future training arrangements. The Taranaki union advised that owing to all the dates being taken up it could not provide for a game against a Waikato Colts team at New Plymouth as it had suggested earlier. For tha first matches in the Clark Cup junior competition, on July 12 referees have bben appointed as follows: Putaruru v. Cambridge, a: Putaruru, Mr. S. Hughes (Matamata); Matamata v. Te Awamu tu, alt Matamata, Mr S. Wilkinson (Pu taruru); Morrinsville v. Taupiri, at Morrinsville, Mr. N. T. M'cClcmnan (Hamilton). The committee decided to extend its congratulations to Mr. A. A. Griffiths on being chosen Ito officiate in the game between the Aill Blacks and Auckland, at Auckland, to-mor-row. PEACE CUP DRAW Nine Challenges Received The Morrinsville Rugby Union has received nine challenges for the Peace Cup. With one exception all were from sub-union outside Waikato territory, Cambridge being the ■sole challenger from this area. The draw has been made as follows: July 12: Morrinsville v. Te Aroha. August 2: Holders v.. winners Waihi-Hauraki Plains. August 16 : Holders v. winners Gambridige-Paeroa. 'September 20: Holders v. winners Otorohanga-Taumarunui. •September 27: Holderp v. winners 'Thames-Pukekohe.
