CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
JUNE MEETING Those present at the June meeting of ithe Putaruru Chamber of Copimerce were Messrs. C. B. Arahill (chairman), T. Cotter; T. Carter, A. Dalton, A. C. Anderson, R. A. Shabtock, B. D. Eciadshaw, F. R. Bentley, J. Gardner, C. V. Pearce and the secretary, Mr. P. B. Sinclair. Special Brochure The brochure that iit is proposed ■to issue to co-incide with the town’s change of status to that of a borough was again discussed, and on the motion of Mr. Anderson, seconded by Mr. Bradshaw, it was decided to call a meeting of bodies and persons interested in thci publishing of such a booklet. A sub-committee comprising Messrs. Dalton, Anderson and Arahill was elected to decide the form the booklet will take. Borough Election It was decided to obtain a number of circulars drawing electors’ attention to the importance of exercisir.g their votes on polling day. Poor Roads ’Concern was expressed in regard to the condition of the roads between Putaruru and Lichfield, particularly the section from H. W. Peter’s residence on to the Lichfield Hall. : ' ■ ■ The secretary was instructed to write to the Matamata County Council in regard to this matter. Housing Conditions The distressing conditions under which a family in Putamru are living -was mentioned, and it was decided that a letter be sent to the State Advances Corporation in Hamilton suggesting that special ■priority-’ for a State house Ibe given these people. Ib was also decided to stress to the State Advances Corporation the necessity for tha erection of several bigger units for large families, in the block of houses to be built on the property recently purchased from Mr. Clothier.
