WEEK-END (GAMES The first inter-club gnme of the season was played between the Putaruru and United teams and resulted in a win for the former by 21 runa Generally speaking, the bowlers had the upper hand. Putaruru batted first and made 102, of which total Goodall (53) collected slightly more than half. This player scored freely on both sides of the wicket, and was not troubled by the United bowling. United fared, even worse and were all out for 81, T. Berg (20) and C. V. Pearce (19) being the principal scorers. The best bowling figures ■ were returned by Jordan (Putaruru), 4 for 16, Bartlett (Putaruru ), 4 for 29, and "W. Thompson 4 for 9. A return game will be played this week, commencing at one o’clock. SCHOOL GAME The Mamaku School cricket team visited Putaruru on Saturday and played a game with the Putaruru School eleven. The game resulted in a win for the local boys by an innings and 30 runs, the scores being: Putaruru, first innings, 79. Mamaku, first innings, 32; second innings, 17.
