TAPAPA FIELD DAY

CALF CLUB JUDGING Agricultural Club Beautiful sunshine prevailed at the annual Calf Club day held in the Tapapa -School grounds on Wednesday. There were approximately 30 calves entered in the various competitions and the keenness displayed ■by the children speaks well for the snccess of the club in future years A large number of parents and friends were present, and Tapapa is most fortunate in having such an interested and willing committee, as the day was indeed the most successful ever held. All the judges were pleased with the quality of the calves and lambs displayed and also for the way in which they were handled.

The competitions resulted as follows; —- Heifers: William Anderson 1, Elsa Pulman 2, Duncan Maunder 3, Mervyn Major 4. Judge: Mr. McK. Peffers.

Yearlings: Betty Barker 1, Arthur Tarei 2, Desmond Major 3, Desmond Pulman 4. Judge: Mr. N. L. Higgihson. Calves. Handling and Rearing: Paul Clair 1, Arthur Pulman 2, Desmond Major 3, June Sutcliffe 4. Judge: Mr. F. Anderson. Calves. Handling and Rearing: Eileen Hagenson 1, Mervyn Anderson 2. Archie Maunder 3, Desmond Pulman 4. Judge: Mr. G- Bailey. Calves. —Dairy Type: “Paul Clair 1, Elsa Pulman 2, Desmond Pulman 3, Mervyn Anderson 4. Judge: Mr. Chas. Musker.

Best Handled Calf: Mervyn Anderson 1. Judge: Mr. Chas. Musker. Lambs: Merle Barker 1, Elsa Pulman 2, Jean Pulman 3- Judge: Mr. G. Stops.
