KEANE BANNER MATCH TE WHETU BEAT WALTON , In the second game of the finals for the Waikato East Keane Banner competition, Te Whetu beat Walton at Matamata after a very close contest by 10 matches (123 games) to 9 matches (126 games). Although Walton won the majority of games they lost the odd match. Details of play are as follows, Walton players being mentioned first in each instance:— Combined Doubles.—G. Kirk and Mrs. Hilliar lost to Dunlop and Miss Stewart, 5—9. Shirley and Mrs. Kirk beat Jensen and Miss Bird, 9—7. Whitworth and Mrs. Livingstone beat Johnston and Mrs. Martin, 9—7. L. Kirk and Miss Nicholls beat Cadwallader and Miss Stewart, 9—5. Men’s Singles.— L. Kirk lost to Dunlop, 5—9. G. Kirk beat Jensen, 9—2. Whitworth beat Cadwallader, 9—5. Kuhtz lost to Johnston, 5—9. INTER-CLUB MATCH Putaruru 11, Whenuapai 0 A team of players from the Putaruru Tennis Club visited the Whenuapai courts recently for matches with the representatives there. The later sets, owing to limited time, were reduced to six instead of nine and seven. Putaruru won by 11 matches to nil. Results of play- were (Putaruru names first) :

Duff beat Gordon and Mrs. Worth, 6—l. PUTARURU CLUB Men’s Singles Final The final of the Putaruru Tennis Club’s men’s singles championship will be held during the week-end. The finalists are R. L. Paterson, last year’s champion, and W. Tuck, whose play has shown great improvement this season.
