GOOD HONEY SEASON

IN THE WALTON DISTRICT In spite of the unsettled weather the honey crop this season is above the average, and in this respect is ahead of the Matamata district, where the gales spoiled the honey flow. The colonies were very strong during the season, as the early spring was favourable and the willows and kowhais provided much food. The colonies through getting this good start stood well despite minor set-backs. The season ended in January, and although there is plenty of white clover about insufficient honey is being secured for hive requirements.
