POWER SUPPLY INTERRUPTED
SWITCH TAMPERED WITH. Kiwitahi Farmer Suffers Loss. Some unauthorised person opened the 11 k.v. section switch at Fulton’s corner, on the Walton-Kiwitahi section on August 9, thereby isolating six transformers and about 60 conI sumers. Delay was occasioned in restoring supply owing to the necessity for the troubleman to patrol the whole section affected, to make sure no men were working on the lines. As a consequence of the delay, a farmer with a large incubating plant heated by electricity lost some 300 chicks out of a large batch about to be hatched. Referring to this matter at the j board’s meeting on Tuesday, Mr. J. Pohlen (Matamata) said it was a serious thing for supply to be interfered with. It was a simple thing for anyone to tamper with the switch, and he wondered whether the board should not take steps to place the switches out of reach.
The engineer explained that the switches were locked with padlocks, but in this case the lock was defective. Better locks would be provided for the switches.
