Stock Sales.
FRANKTON. Values for all classes of stock at Frankton on Tuesday were more buoyant than for several weeks past. There was a smaller yarding of fat sheep than usual, and a short supply of fat wethers increased in price. Ewes of good quality also improved, but poorer grades, were sold at late rates. Beef cows and heifers were in large numbers and maintained late rates. Store cattle, boners and bulls improved slightly. There was a fairly heavy yarding of all classes of pigs, prices remaining firm at last week’s rates. Sheep.— Prime fat wethers, 15s 9d to 16s 6d. Heavy, 13s 6d to 14s lid. Light, 11s 6d to 12s 6d. MORRINSVILLE. Yarding of 11,000 Shteep. Over 11,000 sheep were penned at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s Morrinsville sale on Friday. The yarding included drafts of ewes from the Tokomaru Bay and Gisborne districts. The sheep were landed in excellent condition, and met with good competition from buyers from all parts of Waikato. Store lambs were also in good demand and maintained their values. A full yarding of all classes of cattle came forward. There was an oversupply of ox beef, late rates being barely maintained. Cow beef was also penned in large numbers, and was sold at values practically equal to late ruling rates. Boner cows and bulls showed no alteration. The advertised lines of East Coast cattle landed in good condition, the quality being equal to former drafts, but these did not command the competition as on previous occasions. Although a few pens were passed at auction, a complete clearance of 300 head of steers was effected.
A full yarding of fat and store pigs met with good competition. Values for prime baconers remained firm at last sale’s quotations, while unfinished pigs and large stores met with a better sale. Porkers were also in keen demand and showed a rise on last sale’s values. Cattle.—
