W.D.F.U.

SUB-PROVINCIAL OFFICERS ELECTED.

Owing to the rapid growth of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union both in branches and membership (now over 12,000 members), it is being found that the provincial executive quarterly meetings are becoming too unwieldly to handle successfully, and smaller provincials are being formed throughout New Zealand.

A very large and representative meeting of members was held at Tirau Hall on Thursday, Miss Marshall, of South Auckland provincial executive, giving a most interesting and instructive address on the work being done by provincial and Dominion conferences. It was unanimously decided to form the Waikato East I provincial executive of the W.D.F.U. Seven branches are incorporated and will meet quarterly, alternative meetings being held at Tirau, Putaruru and Ngongotaha. Officers were elected as follows: President, Mrs. Voyce (Putaruru); vice-presidents, Mrs. Allen (Tirau), Mrs. Griffiths (Matamata); committee, Mrs. Sloper (Tokoroa), Mrs. Brown (Reporoa), Mrs. Martin (Ngongotaha), Mrs. Barnett (Waotu). The appointment of a secretary was left to the Putaruru branch. Afternoon tea was provided by the Tirau ladies.
