Stock Sales.
FRANKTON. There was an extra-heavy yarding of store cattle and a large attendance ox buyers at Frankton on Tuesday. Several pens of well-bred Shorthorn cattle met with good competition. Prices throughout this class were mostly equal to late rates. A line of 27 Jersey steers, was sold at S 3 18s a head. There was a lighter yarding of fat wethers and an average yarding of fat ewes and lambs. Fat ewes were slightly easier in price, but other classes maintained late quotations. A good yarding of pigs again came forward, baconers meeting with steady competition and selling at values equal to late quotations. Porkers remained fairly steady at late values; A large yarding of stores and weaners realised last week’s rates. Cattle. —

Prices were not up to expectations, and quite a number was passed under the hammer. A medium yarding of cattle maintained late quotations. Cattle.— Fat cows, £2 to £3 Is. Fresh store cows, £1 6s to £1 16s. Boners, 10s to £1 2s. Potter bulls, £1 15s to £4 11s. Three-year Hereford-Shorthorn-cross steers, to £3 7s. Grown mixed colour steers, £2 to £2 16s. Inferior mixed colour steers, £1 7s 6d to £1 9s. Sheep.— Fat ewes, 5s 7d. Fat wethers, 11s to 13s. light fat hoggets, 9s lid to 10s 7d. light fat lambs, 10s Bd. Sound-mouthed ewes, 4s 8d to 5s 9d. MORRINSVILLJS. / Good Demand For Sheep. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s fortnightly sale at Morrinsville on Friday, there was an exceptionally heavy yarding‘of sheep, including a big entry of breeding ewes from the East Coast and Tokomaru Bay districts. The sheep arrived in good order, and attracted a good deal of attention from a large attendance of buyers. Bidding throughout was brisk, and the whole yarding of over 12,000 sheep changed hands at quite satisfactory prices. A large entry of store lambs was sought after by the dairyfarmers, and were practically all sold under the hammer. There was a good yarding of all classes of cattle, including a few pens of ox beef, for which quotations remained very firm. Cows and heifers of good quality sold readily at late rates. The advertised line of steers and heifers from the East Coast attracted good attention and sold at late ruling values. A few pens of good quality Jersey weaner calves also met with good competition.
There was an average yarding of about 600 pigs, mainly good porkers and baconers in the fat pens, and a large number of weaners in the store pens. Prices for all fat pigs remained firm at late rates, while stores and weaners met with good competition, and bidding was brisk until the conclusion of the sale. Cattle. — Heavy fat steers, £7 Is. MATAMATA. Dalgety and Co. held their usual fortnightly stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday, when a medium yarding of stock came forward. The whole yarding of pigs changed hands under keen competition at prices equal to late rates. Cattle.— Light Holstein steers, £3 4s. Light fat Holstein heifers, £2 19s. Medium fat cows, £2 3s to £2 7s. Fair-conditioned cows, £1 10s to £1 15s. Boner cows, £1 5s to £1 10s. Small cows, 10s to 17s. Potter bulls, £1 10s to £2 ss. Small bulls, 5s to 17s 6d.
