THE RABBIT NUISANCE.
INSPECTOR IGNORED. Lichfield Resident Fined. A plea of guilty under extenuating circumstances was entered by Alice Maud Cunningham, of Lichfield, when charged at Putaruru on Friday with failing to comply with a notice to take steps to clear her land of rabbits.
The charge was laid by Eric Lord, inspector of the East Waikato Rabbit Board’s area. In evidence he stated that the land in question was badly infested and was a menace to the surrounding country. The defendant said she had made attempts to clear the land. It was a piece of scrub country very difficult to work efficiently. On the occasion of the notice given by the inspector the message had been given to her sons, who had not mentioned it to her.

A fine of £1 was imposed.
