Garden Party.
A most enjoyable garden party to raise funds for the Putaruru Methodist Church was given by Mrs. G. V. Pearce on Wednesday of last week, at: her home in Merchant street. Tennis, croquet and clock golf was played, and afternoon tea was served. Miss E. Wheeler was the winner of the tennis tournament, and Mrs. Campbell first for crazy croquet, Mrs. Coupe first for target croquet, Mrs. Tulloch first for clock golf, Mrs. Wilford being successful in the treasure hunt. Mrs. Pearce received her guests in a fawn frock of marocain trimmed with brown. Among those present were Mesdames Meredith, Penwarden, Ranger, Murphy, Grange, Coupe, Lochhead, George, Dunn, Howland, Tulloch, Francis, Neal, Peterson, McKenzie, Kimber, Begbie, Barr Brown, Eastlope, Wilford, Scholz, Gawith, Campbell, Lindsey, Bailey, Misses Alcorn, Pearce, Penwarden, Were, Wheeler (2), Nickle, Coupe, Hills, Vosper, Strugnell, Guillard, Scholz, Peffers. Quite a fair sum was raised.
