OKOROIRE.
Catering for Sport. Thanks to a happy spirit of cooperation between the present proprietor of the Hot Springs Hotel and sports ground, and the local residents, Okoroire Springs is expanding very appreciably as a centre for sports. The Golf Club started its season very successfully last Saturday, and a good playing season, weather permitting, is assured. The bowling green area, full size, looks very promising. The ground has been well chosen as to site, and a good job made. It lies pleasantly to the sun, and the fine trees next the road provide ample shade for the pavilion end. By a good arrangement, the proprietor found the ground, the skilled labour, and the interested residents the unskilled labour, horses, scoops, etc., and the result of their joint efforts bids fair to add an asset of no mean value to the social and sporting life of the district. It is also on the tapis that the old grass court will be rehabilitated shortly, and there will then be a concrete and a grass court. Golf, tennis, croquet, bowls—an excellent
quartette. One way and another the historic old watering place is making more advancement now than has been the case for many a year.
