TIRAU.
Mr. and Mrs. Brown, of Buckland, were on a visit to Mrs. W. D. Fraser last week. Messrs. Bear Bros, and A. Swney have returned from a fishing excursion at Katikati. The Patetere Football Club held a dance last week in the Tirau Hall, and the opportunity was taken to inake a presentation to Mr. ” Snowy ” Anderson, a Patetere, Matamata and Waikato forward, to mark the occasion of his wedding at Christmas time. The present took the form of a case of stainless cutlery, which was handed to “ Snowy ” by Rev. Braybyn, who echoed the good wishes of the members of the senior fifteen, all of whom had subscribed to the present. Messrs. E. W. Jordan (secretary) and G. Wilson (captain) also referred in complimentary terms to their clubmate. Over 1000 sheep were trucked from Tirau on Thursday by Messrs. H. and H. L. Bayly. Owing to the adverse weather having influenced ordinary playing days the Tirau Bowling Club has not yet concluded its championship single:; competition. There are still three or four players with a chance. Mr. K. Marshall, son of Mr. T Marshall, of Tirau, who has been in the P. and T. Department for about 15 years has resigned owing to i’lhesith. ITe has accepted a position in Sydney, and expects to leave about April 1.
